1. Introduction

A commercial farm trial was conducted to investigate the impact of dietary supplementation with Promois DCP (dicalcium phosphate) compared to a standard commercial dicalcium phosphate source on the growth performance, feed efficiency, and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens. Dicalcium phosphate is a foundational mineral feed ingredient providing highly critical inorganic phosphorus and calcium, which are essential for skeletal development, cellular energy metabolism, and neuromuscular function. This study aimed to evaluate the biological efficacy of Promois DCP against a standard DCP control group under real-world broiler farm conditions.

2. Methodology

The trial was performed at a commercial broiler facility involving a total of 50,000 one-day-old Ross 308 broiler chicks. The birds were randomly assigned to two dietary treatment groups across three poultry houses:

  • Control Group (Houses 1 & 3): A total of 25,000 broiler chicks (12,500 per house) fed a standard basal diet supplemented with a conventional commercial dicalcium phosphate source.

  • Experimental Group (House 2 & 4): A total of 25,000 broiler chicks (12,500 per house) fed the same basal diet but supplemented with Promois DCP at an equivalent phosphorus and calcium activity level.

Growth parameters, including final body weight, mortality rate, and feed conversion ratio (FCR), were recorded over a 42-day production cycle. At the end of the study (day 38), a representative sample of 20 birds per house was randomly selected to evaluate processing parameters, specifically breast meat yield and abdominal fat percentage.

3. Results

Dietary supplementation with Promois DCP resulted in highly specific and statistically significant improvements concentrated within live weight accumulation and flock survivability compared to the standard DCP control group.

  • Growth Performance and FCR: Broilers in the Promois DCP group (House 2 & 4) achieved a significantly higher final body weight by day 38. However, no statistically significant difference was observed in the feed conversion ratio (FCR), as both groups utilized feed within similar efficiency parameters.

  • Mortality: A statistically significant reduction in mortality rate was observed in the Promois DCP group compared to the control houses, indicating superior flock durability.

  • Carcass Quality: No statistically significant differences were observed in carcass traits; both breast meat yield and abdominal fat percentage remained statistically equivalent between the two treatments.

4. Discussion and Conclusion

The results of this farm trial demonstrate that Promois DCP delivers an explicit benefit in live performance and flock viability under commercial conditions. While tissue partitioning traits like breast meat yield and relative fat thickness remained uniform, the birds utilizing Promois DCP grew significantly heavier and maintained better flock integrity.

These improvements are directly linked to the enhanced bioavailability of phosphorus and calcium provided by Promois DCP. Phosphorus is a structurally limiting mineral for skeletal frame development. Superior absorption of phosphorus from Promois DCP ensures rapid bone mineralization and a stronger skeletal framework early in life, which is essential to support heavy muscle deposition in modern broilers. This enhanced structural soundness prevents metabolic bone disorders, lameness, and subsequent culling or mortality in the late finishing phase, leading to a significantly lower overall mortality rate and a higher final live weight per bird.

In conclusion, replacing standard dicalcium phosphate with Promois DCP under commercial farming conditions plays a highly beneficial role in maximizing final body weights and reducing flock mortality by ensuring optimal skeletal integrity and mineral utilization.
